Effects of IBA on Elongation of Seedstalk in Korean Garlic

Abstract
|
|
|
Effects of IBA on the seedstalk elongation in Korean garlic were studied.
1. Removal of the floral organs upper seedstalk inhibited elongation of the seedstalk. Inhibition of seedstalk elongation was the most apparent in Gutted seedstalk and the next was removals of the middle part of spathe, the spathe and the spathe plus flowers plus bulblets in order.
2. When applied the IBA solution at the point of cutted seedstalk the length of the seedstalk was similar to the complete seedstalk. Its effective occurred for short time.
3. Moderate concentrations of IBA treatment and degree of seedstalk elongation were different by the local varieties and stage of seedstalk elongation. Moderate concentrations of IBA on the seedstalk elongation ranged approximately from 50 to 1,000 ppm.
4. At treatment of high concentration of IBA in complete seedstalk the seedstalk elongation was markedly apparent in comparison with non-treatment.
